Today I’m going to show you guys how to do a barbell pullover. This exercise is targeted for your lats, but, again, you’re going to get some chest work. You’re also going to get some shoulders plus a plethora of other muscles all in one. Let me show you how this works. We’re going to grab this barbell. I’m going to jump back onto my back and extend this weight straight up into the air. Then I’m going to slowly allow my arms to extend behind me. Control, pause, lifting back over. Slow on the way down. Control, pause, extend. Lift back over. Slow on the way down. Extend. Lift back over. Now, that’s how you do a barbell pullover. Guys, again, I do not recommend you doing a lot of weight here. The shoulder is very susceptible to injury at this point because it’s so extended without too much stability. It’s a great exercise to target your lats. It also gets a little bit of chest, plus some other muscles. But, again, let’s be safe. Use our brains. We can do a little lighter weight, do it a little slower, and get the same effect that you would get out of doing a heavier dumbbell. An exercise like this is going to touch a lot of different muscles – your lats, your chest, your shoulders, and a lot, lot, lot of core. So, if doing core work is also something very important to you this is a very nice exercise. Because as you’re extending back over you need to use a lot of abdominals to keep yourself in position. Guys, remember again, we definitely want you to use a lot lighter weight. Just focus on having the perfect form to the number, let’s say, 12 again. Nice and slow. Perfect control. Good form. Stay safe.
