One of the best FDA-approved hair loss medications on the market to slow down male pattern baldness is finasteride, also known as Propecia. Finasteride works by blocking testosterone from converting into DHT. Studies show that up to 86% of people using 1mg of finasteride daily did not experience any more hair loss since the start of the prescription. Despite the effectiveness of finasteride, many people over the years have complained of numerous side effects, ranging from sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction and low libido to even depression. Finasteride is such a great drug for balding males but many have been turned off by it’s many side effects. I’ve been taking finasteride since my first hair transplant in Nov. 2016 and have yet to have any side effects. In this video, I will try to explain how you can take finasteride without having any side effects. Please note that I do not have any side effects from finasteride and the following information is from research that i have gathered online and from other user’s personal experience with finasteride. also, Before trying any of the following methods, please make sure to first consult with your doctor for proper medical advice. 1. Some users of finasteride claim that lowering the dosage from 1mg to 0.2mg has reduced or eliminated the side effects of finasteride. An medical study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) revealed that taking finasteride at dosages of 0.2mg/day or higher was still effective in treating male pattern baldness, although it wasn’t as effective as taking the 1mg pill. this will lower the efficacy of the drug, but many will agree that something is always better than nothing. I’ll leave the link to the scientific study so that you can read about it if interested. 2. For those individuals who have been looking for a safer way to take finasteride, a topical form is now available. Many claim that it halts the progression of male pattern baldness effectively, with little chance of any unwanted side effects due to the minimal absorption into the rest of the body. The only bad thing is that finasteride is not as easily available to find in topical solution. However, customers in Canada can obtain a prescription for topical finasteride from hair transplant surgery Hasson&Wong, or if you based in Europe, you can purchase it online. 3. Finasteride works by eliminating testosterone from converting to DHT. If we eliminate DHT, it gives the body a chance for estrogen to dominate, which causes hormonal imbalances that may actually be the cause of unwanted side effects from taking finasteride, not from the drug itself. If a male’s estrogen level goes out of range, this can cause symptoms such as erectile dysfunction, low libido, depression, etc. The key here is to ensure that estrogen does not increase. Zinc has been known to prevent the conversion of testosterone to estrogen. Calcium D Glucarate also removes excess estrogen from the body. Indole-3-Carbinol is another strong excess estrogen eliminator that is found in veggies such as broccoli. Finasteride 1mg/day (generic brand for Propecia/Proscar) – Finasteride is approved by the FDA for male pattern baldness and is effective in slowing hair loss for men. 2. Biotin 10,000mcg/day – Biotin is effective in thickening hair, nails, and beautifying the skin. I’ve noticed thicker and stronger hair after using Biotin for the past few months. 3. Vitamin D 3,000IU/day – Vitamin D helps maintain a healthy body 4. Minoxidil (Rogaine) – Minoxidil slows hair loss progression and promotes hair regrowth.
