What is Osteoporosis and how is it prevented? – Dr. Hanume Gowda

Osteoporosis is the weakening of the bone, generally happens with a normal volume or density is lesser. Normal volume means shape and size of the bone is same, but the content inside is weaker. Why this happens? 1. As the age advances, strength goes down, and body starts losing the bone weight. 2. When you’re young, 18 for a woman, 20 for a main, you’ll get the peak volume. Peak volume means, bones start aggregating from you birth date till around 18-20 years, after that, accumulation is much lower. This volume, slowly starts decreasing as you grow old, particularly at a much faster rate once you hit mid 40s. Sedantry lifestyle for men ,women attaining menopause early can make you get osteoporosis much earlier. If estrogen levels go down, bone strength also keeps going down.
