http://formosafitness.com This is how I do and teach the hip extension, which is different from the back extension that most people do on this equipment. Both are excellent but if you add the hyperextension to the top of the hip extension as I show in the video, you get back, glute, and hamstring work rather than just low back as with the back extension. Three birds with one stone. Don’t fear the hyperextension! This is not incorrect as some claim. You simply need to do it slow and controlled, squeezing the back muscles to their fullest extent. The hyperextension should never be done fast or jerky. We get way too much flexion in daily life and I find the more of these hyperextensions I do, the better my back feels. This is one exercise that nearly everyone in the gym should do their best to master. 2-3x a week is perfect.
