Sylimarin is also known as Milk Thistle because of the milky sap in the leaves of the plant which is indigenous to the Mediterranean region. Silymarin consists of two primary and most active compounds known as silybin A & B. When taken orally, silybin takes many hours for the body to absorb in the gastrointestinal tract.
