A new study that has just been published found a link between long-term steroid use and myocardial dysfunction and atherosclerosis, which is the leading cause of heart disease. I found this study very interesting, but had questions about whether this also applied to Testosterone Replacement Therapy or not, and decided to investigate. http://www.endocrinologyadvisor.com/cardiovascular-and-metabolic-disorders/steroid-use-linked-to-cardiovascular-adverse-events/article/664517/ As it turns out, the study looked at long-term steroids users using supra-physiological doses, i.e. above normal or natural levels. So one would assume that lower, more natural dose users would not be affected or implicated by this study. Just to make sure though, I also briefly looked up the impact of testosterone replacement therapy on heart disease. From what I could find, TRT seems to have no negative impact when it comes to heart disease. Testosterone supplementation reduces heart attack risk in men with heart disease “The study shows that using testosterone replacement therapy to increase testosterone to normal levels in androgen-deficient men doesn’t increase their risk of a serious heart attack or stroke,” said cardiologist Brent Muhlestein, MD Link: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/04/160403195920.htm Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Cardiovascular Risk: A Review: “Previous and present meta-analyses of the available evidence on RCTs, whether or not they had CV events their primary endpoint, and pharmacoepidemiological studies do not support any causal role between TRT and adverse CV events. This is especially true when hypogonadism is properly diagnosed and replacement therapy correctly performed.” Link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4709429/ DISCLAIMER: THE INFORMATION IN THIS VIDEO IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY – PLEASE ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING ANY MEDICAL ACTION REGARDING YOUR HEALTH.
