Many people incorrectly believe that BMI is a measure of how fat you are. It is actually a measure based on your height and weight where your weight is adjusted for the square of your height in metres. Professor Grant Schofield talks about the different categories of a BMI calculation and what they mean, and answers typical questions such as Should I be alarmed if I fit into one of the categories outside ‘normal’?, What if I’m an athlete?, What about Children and different races?
