Insulin resistance is the body’s defense mechanism against excess sugar (glucose). What is insulin? Insulin keeps your blood sugars from going too high. Insulin is a detoxifier hormone. It’s meant to detoxify excess sugar. Normal blood sugar is equivalent to about 1 teaspoon of sugar per 1 1/2 gallons of blood.
