Also known as finasteride, Propecia is a commonly used drug that treats hair loss in men, particularly male-pattern baldness. According to U.S. government information obtained from Mediline.gov, male-pattern baldness is a sex-linked characteristic inherited from the mother, whereby a bald patch gradually forms on top of a man’s head. Propecia treats this by inhibiting the production of DHT, a form of testosterone linked to baldness. According to medicine information website Drugs.com, the side effects of Propecia mainly hamper the male libido and can result in decreased sex drive, as well as erectile and ejaculation issues. If a patient stops taking the drug, hair loss resumes. Male pattern baldness does not indicate a medical disorder, but may affect self-esteem or cause anxiety. New York physician Harold Bornstein told the New York Times that President Trump takes medicine to control his cholesterol and antibiotics to treat rosacea, a common skin condition. —————————————-—————————————-—————- Next Animation Studio’s News Direct service provides daily, high-quality, informative 3D news animations that fill in for missing footage and help viewers understand breaking news stories or in-depth features on science, technology, and health.
