One side effect of those surgeries, short stature. After a lot of visits with endocrinologists, they said last year that he is not growing as he should, his weight was increasing accordingly but not his height, says Jakes mom Lorene Begley. So this past March, doctors recommended that Jake take a daily injection of human growth hormone, every night at 9:00pm for the next three years.
