If you have food restrictions, whether you don’t eat meat, dairy products, eggs, or whole grains for whatever reason, you may need to take supplements. There are specific B Vitamins that are beneficial to those with diabetes. B1 (thiamine) helps the body convert carbohydrates and fat into energy. In foods this is found in whole grains, mainly green veggis and livers. B2 (riboflavin) is required by the body for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. This is found in many dairy products. B6 (Pyridoxine) aids in the protection of nerve cells. This is especially important to fight diabetic neuropathy. This is found in nuts, fish, salad greens and bananas. B12 (Cobalamin) is crucial to good blood health. This is mainly found in animal products. So is B complex good for diabetes? Yes it is.
