Here we will understand what is the relation between TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and Thyroxine (T4). Hypothalamus releases TRH (thyrotropin releasing hormone) which stimulates the pituitary gland, pituitary in return releases TSH, which stimulates TSH receptors on thyroid gland so as to produce T3 – triiodothyronine and T4- thyroxine. T3 and T4 are released in blood and they perform their functions. When T3 and T4 levels are high or low all this information reaches brain and every thing is controlled. T3 and T4 levels are high negative feedback decreases T3 and T4 levels. There are many conditions which takes place through this like Grave’s disease, secondary hypothyroidism, Hashimoto Disease, Cretinism etc.
