A US Army soldier accused of massacring 16 Afghans, including nine children, had a traumatic brain injury. The staff sergeant allegedly left his outpost in Kandahar on Sunday and walked house-to-house to kill his victims. Traumatic brain injury, or TBI, is one of the most common wounds sustained in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It can cause everything from sleep and cognitive problems to mood disorders and depression. Sources: NPR and Pro Publica via Wired, ABC
